Dolores Rabuse, also known to family, friends, and co-workers as “Dody” and to her nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews as “Aunt Dee-Dee”, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Care Haven Homes where she was a resident.
Dolores was born on March 24, 1926 in Kansas City, MO where she was a lifelong resident. She attended St. Louis Grade School and graduated from Southeast High School. After high school graduation Dolores went to work for Cook Paint and Varnish Company in North Kansas City, MO, working her way from the inventory department to an Executive Secretary for the President of the company. She retired in 2004 after serving a career of sixty-one years.
Dolores was a devout Catholic and was a proud founding member of Saint Thomas More Church in South Kansas City, MO. She attended Mass each morning.
She was a lover of ALL dogs, especially the big fluffy ones!
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary (Rositch) Rabuse; brothers William, John, and James Rabuse; sisters Marie Rabuse Crume, Helen Rabuse Hammer; and niece Margaret (Peggy) Hammer.
Survivors include nieces Donna S. Burke (Val Jones) of Lenexa, KS, Patricia A. Dowd of Lee’s Summit, MO, nephew Michael Hammer of Kansas City, MO; four great nieces Nichole (Kent) Cook of Pleasant Hill, MO, Michelle (Mitchell) Jeffries of Lee’s Summit, MO, Alison Dowd of Chicago, IL, Sami Dowd of Kansas City, MO; great nephews Eric Burke of Sarasota, FL and Matthew Dowd of Lee’s Summit, MO; three great-great nieces; Addison, Peyton, and Hailey; and great-great nephew Aiden.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, followed by a visitation, at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 11800 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
