

Don was born September 6, 1923 in St. Joseph, MO where he spent the first 19 years of his life. Upon joining the Army/Air Force he departed St. Joseph in 1942 serving in World War II until being honorably discharged in 1945. In 1947 he started working for North American Rockwell. Rockwell became known as Rockwell International and later the Boeing Company from which he retired after 36 years as a data analyst. During his career Don worked on the Apollo, Challenger and Columbia Space Programs. On the Apollo 11 Mission a capsule containing his name with others working on the program was buried on the moon; “The Eagle Has Landed”.
In 1952 Don was married to Virginia Luttrell in Las Vegas, NV and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. They resided in Long Beach, CA all of their married life and traveled extensively. Virginia passed away in 2003 whereas Don returned to Missouri and resided in Kansas City North for the past 13 years.
Don is survived by many nieces and nephews including Carol Ann Walker of Kansas City North and Bette Sue Kittle of Issaquah, WA; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Don will be cremated and scattered in the Pacific Ocean. Contributions are suggested to Gentiva Hospice.
