Don was a great friend to have and was always  respectful. We bonded over a lot of things and talked often. He loved animals and always had a story to tell. 

I will never forget when he was telling me how beautiful his ex wife was and I realized my dad was friends with her!

By the time Don was born, sadly, my family lost contact with the Hudsons having moved from St. Louis where my parents, Ken and Nel Bussen, knew them as young adults before any of them married, and Janie and my sister Linn and I got to be friends as a result of their marriages and friendships,I remember the Hudson family as loving, caring for each other and everyone.

Reading others thoughts here about him, Donnie obviously learned well, life's best lessons . . . to live, laugh, and love. Traits he got from his dear parents, Don and Margaret.

God bless Don, Margaret, and Donnie . . . and you, Janie.

I am sorry for your loss I hope the memories hour family and friends share comfort your family.

I am so saddened to hear about Donny's passing.  I remember him as helpful, earnest, sincere and honest. He cared very much about family and I always admired how he doted on and cared for his daughter. He faced challenges in life and overcame them with good humor and strength of character.  I loved his laugh, so full, genuine and boyish.  To the Hudsons, you have lost a valuable father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.  Donny was all those things, and so much more to you all. You are in my thoughts, as is Donny. Elena, I remember you as a little girl who Donny so often spoke about, he so proud of you, bragging about you. I hope you continue your education as your dad wanted that so much for you. Safe travels, Donny, ride that beam of light.

I met Donny when I was 13 years old.  We became fast and dear friends.  We traveled to Hawaii together, worked hard, and played hard.  Donny was always full of life.  And he was always celebrating it.  He taught me how to live in the moment and to live without regrets.  He did not live a long life - but I know he lived a full one.  I will miss him always.  I loved him and still do...

Donny is warm, accepting, and kind. He was one of those people that brought a smile to your face when you saw him and he always had something lovely to say to you-and about others. He helped make high school/the teenage experience a little bit easier by being a friend. Godspeed DH!

I am so sorry for your loss Elena.  Your Dad was a volunteer for us at CSL and we so cherished our time with him and all his wonderful stories of how he loved you so much. Peace and love to you and your family.

sure sorry to hear of his passing. He was so young. He really loved his daughter and was proud of her. I only met him a few times,but could tell that he loved his family.

Donny was a great friend of mine in "Upper" school. So many wonderful memories. He had a great sense of humor. There was a time when I wore cowboy boots to school. In response Don gave me the nickname, "Earl." 
He liked to collect my notebook doodles--always encouraging me to develop my drawing talents. At the end of the school year he gave me a folder of collected drawings titled, "The Best of Earl." 
He was a loving and supportive friend and I think of him often.

My sincere condolences to Donny's family. Donny was always pleasant and friendly. I will remember him for his smile and generous kind ways.

Donny was a Great guy and wonderful friend. He and a number of us were some of the first in the KC area to run around in the woods having paintball duels -- all the way back in the '80's. What a blast that was!  He was also part of the crew that helped hilariously solve the great "open lunch debacle" of Loretto in '83. He and John scared the wits out of several underclassmen as we played "Nicaraguan Border Guards" inspecting cars coming back from lunch. Aaaah, great times -- what a great guy. I will miss him very much.
