He was born in a two story house in Knob Noster, Missouri on June 22, 1940. Don graduated from high school in Knob Noster in 1958. He worked for his father (Don Kendrick) in the construction business in Warrensburg, Missouri for two years. Then on October 12, 1960 he went to work for the Missouri Public Service Company in Warrensburg (the power company). Then on August 5, 1963 he went to the Army. He got out of the Army on August 6, 1965.
Then he returned working for the Missouri Public Service Company in Raytown, Missouri. He worked in Raytown until December 15, 1969. Then he went to work for Kansas City Power & Light as a journeyman lineman. He worked there for 33 years and retired on January 1, 2003.
He was a big fan of NASCAR with season tickets ever since the Kansas Speedway opened in 2001.
He was married to Joyce. He had one daughter named Kimberly and a son named Brian.
Kimberly lives in Raytown with her husband Roger Mawhiney, and his son Brian lives in Lee's Summit with his wife Sue.
Don is also survived by his grandchildren Brandie, Whitney, Hunter, Jordan, Natalie, Lauren, and Caitalin, and his great-grandchildren Tyler, Katrina, Grayson, Kian, Kaydence, Emerson, Evelyn, and Morgan.
