

A graduate of Central High School (1948), Baker University (Bachelor of Science,1952), University of Missouri at Kansas City (Bachelor of Arts,1955), Doctor of Dental Surgery University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry (Scholastic Honors Graduate Omicron Kappa Epsilon,1959) Mini-Residency, Brookdale Hospital, New York City, New York, Member of Psi Omega, an international professional fraternity for dentistry “to maintain the standards of the profession, to encourage scientific investigation and literary culture”, and honored as one of America’s Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council (2003-2010). A life long learner and international speaker on the specialities of dentistry, Dr. Meyer continued to provide exceptional dental care to his many patients for 54 years before his retirement in 2013.
His community was extremely important to him, thus providing pro bono dental services to “Give Kids a Smile”, “Christina Smiles”, Foundation for Dentistry for the Handicapped, and dental wellness exams for underserved children. Professional affiliations included American Dental Association (Life Member), American Academy of General Dentists (Member Emeritus), Missouri Dental Association (Life Member), Greater Kansas City Dental Society (Life Member and Past President ), Blue Ridge Optimists (Past President), Rotary Club of Raytown (Past President), Rotary Club of Independence (Past President and Paul Harris Fellow). He proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army during the Korean War prior to entering dental school.
An avid sportsman, he loved every adventure with family and friends whether it was hunting, fishing (Independence Bassmasters Club, Past President), aviation pilot, snow skier, world traveler, golf (Blue Springs Country Club), cheering on the KC Chiefs, and his enjoyment of raising and showing cutting horses with his sons, daughter, and grandchildren. He loved people and was a friend to everyone he met. Dr. Meyer is survived by his wife of 29 years, six children, eight grandchildren, including all spouses and thirteen great grandchildren. Per his wishes, no formal service is planned following cremation.
