Don was born on February 12, 1935, in Kansas City, to Loomis Elbridge Treat and Laura Rachael (Davis) Phillips. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1953. While at Paseo High, Don participated in many activities including A Cappella Choir, and the Alpha Kappa Phi fraternity. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
Don married his "lovely", Lois Louise Stout, on December 21, 1957 in Milton, Illinois. Five years later, Don and Lois were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lois unfortunately passed away in 1981. After the passing of Lois, Don was married for 6 years to Ronnie Hall. He worked at Bendix and Atlas Equipment, among other jobs in sales. Upon retiring, he proudly drove a school bus for the Blue Springs School District. Don never passed on an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Don's main focus throughout his life was family and service to others.
Don is survived by his children, Teresa (Bill) Mansfield, Tamara (Barry) Featherston, Shannon (Roger) Brinkerhoff, Donald (Anna) Phillips II, Christina (Mike) Fulk, Todd (Karla) Phillips; 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife and eternal companion, Lois; parents, Loomis and Laura; Siblings, Enid, Ross, Dorma Jean, Elna Rae, Duane and great-grandchildren Kaydence Noel Featherston & Aleki Tel Aviv McFarland.
A Visitation will occur Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
A Funeral Service will occur Friday, September 7, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1416 SW 19th Street, Blue Springs, Missouri 64015.
Burial will take place on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131
