Dearly Loved Donald H. West entered into his eternal rest on April 19, 2011. The gift of his precious life was entrusted to Dr. & Mrs. O.H. (Marguerite Long) West on March 27, 1933 in Kirksville, Missouri. Preparation for his lifetime profession of teaching was received at N.E. Missouri State, after which he began 34 years of molding lives at S.M. North High School both in the classroom and on the football field for a few years. His education had a short interruption when he served his country during the Korean War. His cherished life was shared with Ruth Ann McFarland West when they met on April 29, 1960 and married April 29, 1961. They had the blessing of two devoted children, Beth Schultz (Tom) and Michael West (Michele) and five grandchildren, Jordan, Alex and Hannah West and Kylie and Jackson Schultz. Don also is survived by his brother, Waldo M. West of Kirksville, Missouri. A Private family graveside service will be held. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 1:00 p.m. at the Harvest Ridge Covenant Church, 22015 Midland Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66226.
