Donna was born on October 16, 1936 in Maryville, MO to Forrest and Helen Stark. Donna and her husband, Dwight, moved to the Kansas City area in 1956 to raise their family. She was the kindest, hardest working, best mom and grandma to all of us! Her family was blessed to be a part of her life. Together as a family we enjoyed a lot of rounds of golf, trips to lake (and many other places), family get togethers, always seeing her in the stands to cheer on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved unconditionally and was so proud of her family.
Donna worked on and off during her life and liked to have “extra” money to spoil her family! She enjoyed working and using her brain. She finally retired at the age of 84 with the persuasion of her girls.
Donna was a good athlete but her favorite sport was golf. She was a member of Blue Hills Country Club since 1967. She had 2 hole-in-ones! She played in ladies leagues and her girls always enjoyed playing in the Gibson Girl Tournament with her. She was still carrying her bag and walking 18 holes at the young age of 84.
Donna was a blessing to have as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was loyal and loved with all her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Dwight Barrett and her parents Forrest and Helen Stark. She is survived by her brother Bill (Sandi) and sister Vivian (George); her children Lynn (Walt), Hunt (Vanessa), Tracy (Chip) and Carrie (Chad); her grandchildren Callie, Mack, Karla, Keith, Kyle, Kory, Bridget, Mollie, Barrett, Gretchen, Hunter, Reagan, Riley and Gage; as well as her great grandchildren who she was blessed to spend a lot of time with. She is also survived by her dog Tiffy, who was always by her side.
Donna’s daughters would like to extend a huge thank you to “Mom’s angels” who have loved and helped them care for mom so she could continue to live in her house — Jeanne, Michelle, Maria, Pearl, Kate, Olivia and Audrey. Also thank you to her KC Hospice care team — you were all amazing! She was not only our mom, but our dear friend.
