Donnie was born in Holden, MO and graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City. After working several years in traditional business roles, Donnie accepted the most challenging and fulfilling role of her lifetime raising and guiding her sons, Scott and Steve, and supporting the love of her life, Larry, in his adventures. Whether it was Boy Scouts, PTA, youth sports, Church youth group, or school activities, Donnie devoted her life to supporting, encouraging and transporting her boys to enable their exploration of people and activities that helped them become the men they are today. She possessed a rare ability to find light and humor and bring a candid perspective in any situation. She is fondly remembered for her mischievous wit and fun-loving approach to life and relationships.
Outside of her devotion to the men in her life, Donnie served as a volunteer in a number of organizations, church work camps and other community outreach opportunities; but, most fondly at Saint Luke’s hospital – the institution that would eventually be such a pivotal part of her own health journey.
Donna was an adoring wife and best friend to Larry Dale Blair (LB) for 56 years before his passing in 2021. They were together for a total of 63 years. Mom was a proud and committed mother to Scott (and Leslie, Prairie Village, KS) and Steve (and Ashley, Fayetteville, AR). Nonnie beamed with pride as a loving Grandma to Kennedy, Anna, Brooke, Mitchell and Cooper. Donnie loved and will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that she cherished as her own.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her father, William Edward Dishman; her mother, Geraldyne Willina Dishman; her grandmother, Mabel Inez Copenhaver; and her sister, Barbara Jo Hayden, with whom she is no doubt reunited and already causing a ruckus.
A celebration of life is planned for 3pm, Saturday, February 15th, at The Summit Church (3381 NW Chipman Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO).
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The Summit Church or St. Lukes Home Care and Hospice. Let us challenge one another to bring laughter to every precious day that God has provided.
