Donna Lee (Stillwell) Carver, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away April 24, 2021. The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with the Memorial Service starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8 at Parkview Community of Christ Church, 801 SW 19th Street, Blue Springs, MO. Internment will immediately follow the Memorial Service at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Services will also be streamed live on YouTube, search Donna Carver Funeral.
Donna was born November 5, 1935 in Webster City, IA to Ernest and Leta (Montgomery) Stillwell. Donna graduated high school from William Chrisman in 1953. Donna married Robert Carver September 16, 1955 and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. Donna devoted her life to Bob and their 4 children, as a homemaker, cub scouts den mother, church youth group leader, football booster, and band booster. Donna developed a passion for teaching and received a bachelor's degree from Avila University, and master’s and specialist degrees from UMKC, all 3 in education. Donna taught special education at Symington Elementary for 20 years. After she retired, Donna was an avid traveler, taking many trips with Bob, family, and friends. Donna enjoyed being a doting wife, mother, and grandmother, never missing a sporting event, celebration, recital, or graduation.
Donna was very involved in the Grandview Community of Christ congregation, where she and Bob were members of the Lunch Bunch, Prime Timers and played service music. Donna was a talented pianist and organist, inspiring her children, grandchildren, and friends to explore musical talents. One of Donna’s favorite past times was accompanying Bob as he played the violin.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents and her 5 siblings. She is survived by her children: Susan Carver Ward (Harry) Pensacola, FL, Steve Carver (Julie) Independence, MO, Scott Carver (Nicole) Kodiak, AK, Shawn Carver (Shannon) Pleasant Hill, MO; grandchildren Jessica Cunningham (Josh), Jennifer Carver, Jaclyn Carver (Jake), Nicholas Carver, Matthew Carver, Grant Carver, Logan Carver; and great-grandson Cooper Cunningham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
