Donna Mahin, 76, Kansas City, Mo., died suddenly Thursday, July 18, 2013, at North Kansas City Hospital. A Celebration of Donna's Life will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Vivion Road, Kansas City. Visitation will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the chapel. Placement of her urn will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery Columbarium.
Donna was born July 22, 1936, in Morganville, Kan., to Carl Rudolph and Eulah Mae (Reed) Carlson. She moved here with her family in 1968 from Wichita and worked for Paccar, the parent company of Kenworth from 1968 to 1992. She was a past member of Alpha Eastern Star Chapter; O.E.S. Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
Her survivors include her husband of 56 years, Lyle of the home; their son, Pat and his wife Carrie; granddaughter, Cory, grandson, Trevor and great granddaughter, Lila Grace. She also leaves her older brother, Loy Orrin and his wife Orpha of Wichita Kan., a younger brother, Carl Vernon Carlson of Hesperia, Calif., and her nephews, Greg and Galen and nieces, Cheryl and Gayla.
Donna was a very loving, giving Matriarch of our family and she will be greatly missed. Her love had no bounds and she was always there in good times and bad. Her joys in life included seeing her grandkids as much as possible, spoiling them in every way imaginable just like she did her husband and son. She was also an avid scrapbook and photo album devotee and we are so thankful for her creations. She collected a large amount of artifacts during her trips with Lyle and was fond of owls and hummingbirds in particular. She was a dear friend to those that were close to her and loved by all. The void left by her passing will never be filled but she remains in our hearts forever.
Memorial contributions in Donna's name can be made to Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City.
