Doris Jean Calvert

Doris Jean Calvert went to her eternal heavenly resting place on March 2nd, 2018. She was born on January 22nd, 1933 at old General Hospital. She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City. After raising her family she worked at Burlington Coat Factory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Reece Calvert, her mother, Thelma Woods, and older brother Donald Woods.

She is survived by her brother, Dean Woods of Winterhaven, Florida. She was a wonderful mother to her four children, Mark (Jayne) Calvert, Bill (Ann) Calvert, Matt (Julie) Calvert and Beth Miller. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, Brent, Bryan, Adam (Kate), Nick (Toree Bean), Daniel and Ethan (Kati) Calvert, Elizabeth (Cameron) Niederhauser, Lindsey, John and Jake Miller. She was also a great grandmother to four great grandchildren, Alivia, Sam, Halia, and Hudson Calvert. Jean was a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews in her extended family.

She had many friends at McMurray Methodist Church where she attended. Jean lived in the same house for over 58 years in Gracemore where she raised her family with unconditional love and discipline. The family wishes to thank the caring nurses at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at North Kansas City Hospital and the NorthCare Hospice House for their support during her final days. Donations can be sent to Kansas City Hospice.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7th, 6-8 pm and her funeral will be on Thursday, March 8th, 1:30 pm, both at McGilley Antioch Chapel; burial will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Condolences: www.mcgilleyantiochchapel.com.
