Doris Louise Mudd

Born on March 1, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, Doris moved with her family to a farm near Erie, Kansas. She graduated from Walnut High School in Walnut, Kansas in 1942. Following graduation, Doris and her sister, Norma, relocated to Kansas City, Kansas where they both found employment at the North American Aviation factory in Kansas City, Kansas.

On April 2, 1945, Doris married Paul Mudd at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walnut, Kansas. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Earl and Mary Vandervoort; her sister, Norma Collings; her brothers, Earl Vandervoort Jr. and Elmer Vandervoort; and a daughter-in-law, Jan Mudd.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Ehler and her husband, John, and Larry Mudd and Linda. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jim Bowman and Jeff Mudd; step-grandchildren, Nate Rule and Jarrett Rule; several great-grandchildren, and her brother, Bill Vandervoort. Doris is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Doris was a devoted homemaker who found joy in sewing, cooking, and gardening. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, as she dedicated her life to taking care of her home and loved ones. Doris was an active member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gladstone, Missouri, and participated in a sewing club.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Northland Shepherd's Center Meals on Wheels and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care, which made Doris's final days more comfortable.

Doris lived a life well-lived and had a wonderful life. Her family was her greatest treasure, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A visitation is scheduled from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gladstone, Missouri where the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. A committal service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or Northland Shepherd's Center.
