She lived to be 100 years old. Anyone that knew her, knew she didn’t like discussing her age. Getting to 100 it became no secret. Doris was a professional woman, a retiree to Foreign Service with the State Department. Her many foreign posts were London, Hungry, Singapore, Malta, and more. Braziel being her favorite, loving the people, country, food, precious gems and dancing.
Doris was an avid study of the Bible, maps and the game of bridge. Doris would be the one to inquire about “Proper Educate” being secretary to the American Ambassador’s she would have to have the answer to an educate question whatever it may be.
Doris and Lois enjoyed their retirement traveling, being part of a bridge club, bowling, exercising and attending Community Christian Church faithfully. The two of them would study recipes and when visiting California would make the most delicious dishes to serve to family and friends.
Moving to Simi Valley, California she lived with her eldest sister Lucille (Carpenter). Simi Valley became home (until this past year) attending Calvery Chapel Simi Valley regularly in person or on YouTube.
While living in California Doris enjoyed the company of her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews, celebrating holidays, birthdays and enjoying life, walking on the Manhattan Pier, eating out, attending Medieval Times and celebrating her 100th birthday in Redondo Beach. Doris will be missed, she stylish dress, clanging bangles, inquiring mind (always up to date on political news) and her smile. 12/3/2022 Doris passed away peacefully in her sleep.
