Dorothea Lee Childress passed away on April 25th, 2012, at Timberlake Care Center. She was born April 1st, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma but was a long time resident of Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben Childress, Jr. and she leaves behind her son Benny Childress (wife Kay Childress), grandsons Scott Childress (wife Kim), Brett Childress, and Cory Childress (wife Tanya), and five great-grandchildren. Dorothea had made many accomplishments through the years, she was a successful business woman in the construction industry, most recently Childress Painting & Associates. She was a Sunday School teacher, pilot, ballroom dancer, but most of all she was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 27th, at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial immediately following in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137.
