Dorothy L. Burner, 93, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House on September 3, 2012. She was born on June 14, 1919 in Creighton, Missouri but was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Burner, her parents Paul and Edna Breitag, and her two sisters Eleanor Babbitt and Marjorie Schmiege. She is survived by her son Jim Burner and wife Mary of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, granddaughters Andrea Colin of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kimberly Burner of Springdale, Arizona, and four great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at John Knox Memory Care Center for their dedicated and compassionate care during her stay there and also the staff at Kansas City Hospice House. A memorial service to celebrate her life is planned for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7500 Oak, Kansas City, Missouri 64114. A lunch and reception will follow. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family.
