

Dorothy Marie Castor, 95, of Independence, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at The Groves. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Redemptorist Fathers’ Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Dorothy was born August 13, 1917 in Kansas City, MO to William Paul and Margaret (Heaney) Daniels. She graduated from St. Aloysius HS; a KC School of Nursing and became an RN before taking time to raise her family; rejoined medicine as an LPN, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel before becoming a Redemptorist member. She was a member and past officer of the Ancient Order of Hiberian Auxillary. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Raymond; daughter Kathleen and her granddaughter Suzanne. Her survivors include her son Raymond Castor, Jr. and wife Suzie, daughter Rosemary Toczek and husband Mark; grandson Jason and wife Rita plus 8 great grandchildren.
