

Dorothy Cecilia (Blue) Harper, 88, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother left this domain and continued her adventure on January 8, 2012. Mom was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 24, 1923. She was a career housewife who worked tirelessly in the home to ensure the well-being and comfort of her husband and children. She always placed others first. Mom was always kind to everyone and strived to make friends and visitors to her home welcome.
Mom and Dad traveled the country with innumerable and memorable trips to Florida, Texas and Minnesota in their travel trailer. She was Dad’s fishing buddy. Mom and Dad were terrific dancers and went dancing often. Mom was extremely supportive of Dad’s weekend hobby of performing and singing in a number of local country music groups during the ‘50s and ‘60s.
Mom was preceded in her eternal journey by her parents Ella Steele and James Blue, husband Charles Harper, sister Betty MacDonald and half-brother Gary Steele.
Mom is survived by her children, all of the Kansas City area, Charles (JoAnn) Harper, Cecilia (Phil) Troiani, Barbara (Jerry) Allwood and Michael (Linda) Harper and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 13 at Mount Moriah Terrace Park. Private inurnment. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association-Heart of America Chapter would be appreciated by Mom and family in lieu of flowers. Condolences to mountmoriahterracepark.com
