Dotty was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 9, 1927 to Nicholas and Thekla Irwin. Dotty was an only child and grew up in Kansas City. Dotty attended college in Warrensburg, Missouri for two years where she met Howard Krohn. Howard and Dotty married on February 1, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dotty was a loving and supporting wife to Howard for 70 years until his passing on December 24, 2018.
Russ Krohn was born on May 15, 1955, followed by Randy Krohn on July 7, 1961. Dotty was a dedicated mother who volunteered to help in grade school home rooms for both Russ and Randy, and encouraged curiosity and academic achievement, as well as musical training for both.
Dotty enjoyed being a homemaker and always made sure that a home-cooked meal was ready. When Russ and Randy were in school and Howard was at work, Dotty played bridge with several groups of life-long friends.
After Howard’s retirement in 1990, Dotty and Howard enjoyed many years of playing bridge and traveling together. They enjoyed Hawaii, Branson, cruises on the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, and the rivers of Europe, as well as land trips over much of Europe.
Dotty and Howard moved to Santa Marta in August 2010 where they truly enjoyed the camaraderie and community of Santa Marta.
Dotty is survived by her son Randy (Holly Carpenter) and daughter-in-law Kim Krohn.
