Dorothy S. Parker

Dorothy Sue Parker, 84, of Independence, MO passed away May 15, 2016 surrounded by family. Funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, May 21st at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Interment following the service at Green Lawn Cemetery.

Dorothy was born January 21, 1932 in Simmons, MO to John Mark & Jewell Elizabeth (Gentry) Lathrom. As a homemaker, Dorothy’s entire life centered on being a devoted & supportive wife as well as a dedicated mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Her most special times were spending holidays and other special moments with family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years & the love of her life, Elston Eugene “Gene” Parker. They were married on August 11, 1950 when Dorothy was 18 years of age. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings. Dorothy is survived by her three children: sons, David (Sharon) Parker & Terry (Deborah) Parker; daughter, Carolyn Parker (William) Downham; 7 grandchildren, Brian (Christina) Parker, Shannon Parker, Michael (Ashley) Parker, Chris Parker, Greg Parker, Ryan Adair & Sean Adair and four great grandchildren, Caleb, Jordan, Sarah & Brooke Parker.
