Dot was born May 7, 1923 in Manchester, Tennessee to Palmer and Fannie Lee Brandon. She retired as manager of Lifeway Baptist Book Store in Kansas City. She was a member of Leawood Baptist Church, was elected a deacon and served in the church library. Dot made her profession of faith as a teenager and was baptized into the Rutledge Falls Baptist Church in Coffee County, Tennessee. She dearly loved the Lord, loved others, and served him faithfully.
Dot married Paul W. Plattner, of Kansas City, Missouri. They were married for 41 years. Together they loved to travel widely. They watched Royals games and were devoted fans.
Dot was an avid reader of books and gave book reviews to her book club. She loved her large family, and kept up with their activities via Facebook. Dot was a resident at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, MO for over 20 years. She loved to garden and was a member of the garden committee at Bishop Spencer Place.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul W. Plattner; sisters, Mildred Brandon Guy (Leo), of Manchester, TN, Mary Crystal Brandon Baker (Curtis), of Hillsboro, TN, and Evelyn Louise Brandon Esleck (Foster), of Manchester, TN; brothers, Robert Ward Brandon, of Manchester, TN, and Dr. Joseph Alexander Brandon (Marianne), of Manchester, TN; and a special friend, Lucille Steele, of Bristol, TN.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Jane Horton (Edward) of Tullahoma, TN; brothers, Gerald Douglas Brandon (Ruth Ann) of Powell, TN, Fred Young Brandon (Carlynn), of Lexington, KY, Dr. Lynn Wood Brandon (Jane), of Rome, GA, and Ewin L. Brandon (Linda) of Anniston, AL; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Plattner; and fellow residents at Bishop Spencer Place.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 5 at Mt. Moriah Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Interment at Mount Moriah Cemetery. A service was held on Tuesday, September 3, at Bishop Spencer Place.
