Dorothy Ann Pridgen, 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on September 22, 2022 at her home. A Celebration of Ann’s life will be from 12:00 – 1:00 PM Saturday October 1st, with a service at 1:00 PM. at McGilley Antioch Chapel.
She was born on September 28, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri to Ernest and Hazel (Howell) Howe. She attended and played field hockey at Central High School in Kansas City, MO; graduating in 1951. She married Donald Pridgen on April 25, 1952, enjoying 70 years together.
Dorothy was a fabulous homemaker. She loved cooking, sewing, and caring for her family. She was a very hard-working farm wife for several years. She was a quick and apt learner, anything she wanted to know, she would find a way to not only learn it but also excel at it. She made her house a welcoming home for her family, both in the city and on the farm. While on the farm, Dorothy and Donald raised cattle and hogs. Dorothy loved to travel the world, watch racing, and play card games. Nothing could keep her down for too long, she survived both breast cancer and knee replacements. Her quick wit and zest for life will be missed by all.
Survivors include, husband, Donald Pridgen; siblings, Peggy and Betty; children, Ronald (Samor) Pridgen, of Liberty, Richard (Margie) Pridgen, of Kansas City; Linda (John) Maloney, of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren, John (Gretchen) Maloney; JaVain (Cara) Pridgen; Leann (Jeremy) Schleicher; six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy will be cremated under the care of McGilley Antioch Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
