Dorothy Verran Scobee, 90, of Kansas City North died Monday afternoon, June 25, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, June 29th at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with burial in East Slope Memorial Gardens, Riverside, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8PM Thursday, June 28th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel.
Dorothy was born in Negaunee, Michigan to William John Phillips and Ethel Mae Verran on January 2, 1922. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1939 and married William Howard Scobee in 1941. Dorothy was employed at Southwestern Bell for over 30 years and retired in 1986. She was a telephone company Pioneer. Dorothy was a charter member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, their first organist, a member of its Service Guild and president of the guild for a year. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, her parents, two brothers, Robert (Bob) Phillips and Harold Phillips, a son-in-law, John W. Boustead, Jr. and a grandson-in-law, Dennis Kingsolver.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Sandra Boustead and Joanne (Philip) Morgan; Jack (Dolores) Phillips; 5 grandchildren, Amy Kingsolver; Bob (Hiedi) Hennessy; Julie (Sean) Hensley; Felicia and Brittany Morgan; 14 great-grandchildren, Briana, Danika, Kierra and Braeden Kingsolver; Mikaela (Tanner) Newton; Amia Ortega; Aleah, Alyssa, Jaegar, Malaina and Keaton Hensley; Justin Poquette; Alexxis and Jerrod Hennessy.
