She was born on December 27, 1936, in Garden City, Missouri to Gustav Herman Sieker and Audrey Marie (Buchanan) Sieker of Garden City, Missouri.
In 1954, she graduated from Garden City High School. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and began her working career at Sears & Roebuck, where she would meet the love of her life.
Dorothy Marie Sieker and Avery Gene Shirley were married on September 28, 1958, in Garden City, Missouri. They were married for 56 years.
In 1993, after 39 years with Sears & Roebuck, she retired

She enjoyed decorating, cooking, reading, gardening, and anything that would involve fashion. She had quite the eye for interior decorating and fashion. Later in life she enjoyed flower arranging and even ventured into some art work.
Dorothy loved all animals. Even the neighborhood goose would come up to her while she was outside. In her later years, she was very fond of her two stray cats that made their home in her home, Bittie and Baby, who predeceased her in 2016.
She is survived by: daughter Tammy (Shirley) Weeden, and son-in-law Greg Weeden, Raymore, Missouri; grandson Nick Weeden and wife Holly Weeden, along with great-granddaughter Emma Weeden, 7, and great-grandson Colin Weeden, 3, Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; granddaughter Lisa (Weeden) Schlappi and husband Kyle Schlappi, Blue Springs, Missouri.
In addition, she is survived by sisters: Louise (Sieker) Smith and Frances (Sieker) Masoner, and brothers: Jim Sieker and Fred Sieker along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Avery Gene Shirley, 2014, father, Gustav Herman Sieker, 1956, and mother, Audrey Marie (Buchanan) Sieker, 1997.

Per her request there will be no funeral services.
