Dorothy Kathleen Steffens, 102, died peacefully at home on March 10, 2026. She was born December 25, 1923, and lived a full and active life. Dorothy was a longtime resident of Raytown, Missouri, and continued living in the home she and her husband built in 1954.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Steffens, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen, and her faithful companion, Jake.
An accomplished pianist, Dorothy performed in the early 1940s on a radio show with her brother, sponsored by the Jenkins Music Co. in Kansas City. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, she owned a private secretarial service. After closing her office, she continued her career as a legal secretary until retiring in 1982.
Dorothy was known as a great cook and an accomplished seamstress, talents that reflected her steady hands, care for others, and pride in doing things well.
