Dottye R. Scott

Dorothy “Dottye” Scott, 90, Kansas City passed into heaven on Jan. 5, 2017. Funeral service is Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 NE 72nd, Gladstone, MO. Visitation will precede the service from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Barry Cemetery.

Dottye was born Nov. 8, 1926 to Allen and Fannie Richey in Hillsboro, TX. At age 17 she met and married a handsome young Army Aircorp recruit, Paul “Scottye” Scott. During their nearly 60 years together, they lived in multiple states. Kansas City became their final residence in 1994. Scottye passed in 2003.

Dottye was an avid quilter who lived on her own, still driving her car and active in church right up to her last days. Her favorite role was being “Gram” to her family.

Dottye is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Scottye; a brother, WJ Richey and brother-in-law, Jimmy Hatch. Survivors include her son Mike (Corliss) Scott; daughter Jo (Phil) Rydman; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her dearest friend and sister, Bobbie Hatch; sister-in-law Bobbie Richey; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to NorthCare Hospice.
