Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Saturday, March 7th at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO; entombment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO. Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 PM Friday, with Rosary at 4:00 PM, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Doug was born October 20, 1931 to James William and Pearl Mariva (Hawkins) Eades in Belmont, NC. In 1951 he was inducted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1954. Medals received included the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Korean War Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal for Korea, and the Korean Defense Service Medal. Following, he began his education at Belmont Abbey College for two years before transferring to the University of North Carolina where he graduated in 1960. He began his career as an industrial engineer with Alcoa Aluminum, Bettendorf, IA. In that field he was hired by the Boeing Company in Brigham City, UT where he worked on the Minute Man Missile. When that project ended he was hired by the Kroger Company where he spent 14 years. Later he worked for Accent Sales and Services, the Kenworth Truck Co (Paccar), Royal Equipment and Siggins and then retired in 1993. Doug was a long-time active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna W. Eades in 1974; sister-in-law, Rose Thomas and brother-in-law, Don McGoldrick.
Survived by his wife of 44 years, Maria (LaSala) Eades; two daughters, Rebecca and husband, Roger Bornstein of Houston, TX; and Karen Cunneen of Irving, TX; grandsons, Robert and wife, Erin Collini, Aubrey, TX, and Captain Daniel Collini, US Army and wife, Rebecca, McLean, VA; a step-granddaughter, Andrea Castro of Spring, TX; 5 great grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. As well as, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Georgia McGoldrick, Jim Thomas, Phyllis and Lon Switzer, Virginia LaSala, and Patricia and Jim Mantel; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
