

Douglas Lancaster, 73, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza, Kansas City, MO. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe, Leawood, KS, with burial following in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPCA.
Doug was born on February 2, 1940 in Babylon, New York. His family moved to Independence, KS when he was 10 years old and he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout there. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a business degree and obtained a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. He practiced law in Johnson County for 47 years, including service as a past President of the Johnson County Bar Association, a respected 25-year member of their Ethics Committee, Prosecutor of Fairway, KS for 34 years, and a member of the Kansas Bar Association. Doug was a practical and kindly gentleman, and a consummate professional-diligent, prudent and cordial. He was happily married to his beloved wife, Shirley, for 34 years, was a longtime member of Church of the Resurrection, a budding artist, average golfer and fierce Jayhawker.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Monica Jenista of Eudora, KS; Katherine Garrison (Andy) of Shawnee, KS; Heather Kilby (Richard) of Castle Rock, CO; brother, Bill Lancaster (Betty) of Tomball, TX; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
