Edith Maxine Butts DesMarteau, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on September 21, 2020. Maxine was born February 5, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri. She was the daughter of William R. and Helen Marie (Lauer) Brittain.
She was a devoted wife and mother who adored her children. Maxine was constantly on the move and engaged in life. Maxine will be remembered for her love of family, dancing, golf, traveling and the outdoors. She was a member of Paradise United Methodist Church in Smithville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Rev. William R. Butts and Alphonse W. DesMarteau, Jr., Sisters, Barbara (Bobbie) Buckner, Betty Ann Harris and step grandson, Michael Sprague.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Sprague and husband Harold and son, Robert (Rob) Butts and wife Marcia; Grandchildren: Zachary Klein (Amanda), Jessica Calcara (Jay), Thomas Klein, Patrick Klein (Sabrina), Sarah Dickson (Justyn), Harry Sprague, Brandon Butts, Cassidy Butts, Spencer Habben, Jade Habben; Great Grandchildren: Jackson and Spencer Klein, Sophia and Caroline Calcara, James and Landon Dickson, Brayden and Parker Sprague, and Emery Sprague, nieces, nephews, Brothers in law: Bob Harris (children, Brad and Debbie), Ronald Buckner (children, Loretta, Dwayne, Michael and Leigh Ann), Rev. Ramon Butts (children, Rama, Paul and Steve) and the DesMarteau family: Greg (Donna), Denise Burton (Mike), Al W. III (Denise), Chris and extended family.
