E. Shirley Jones

E. Shirley Jones, the second of eight children to Clifford and Ada Massey, was born on July 14, 1938 in Grovespring, Missouri. She passed away on May 10, 2025 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of eighty-six.

Shirley married Robert “Bob” Jones on June 11, 1956. Together, they had two sons, Robert Dale and Ronald David Jones. Shirley worked as a seamstress for Fashionbilt until Bob retired from the United States Postal Service in 1989. In her retirement, Shirley enjoyed helping at her sister Beulah’s campground and restaurant at Truman Lake. However, her greatest joy was in spending time with family.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, her son, Ron Jones; three brothers, Darrell, Denny and Lonnie Massey; sisters-in-law, Helen and Beverly Massey, and brothers-in-law, Charles Smithey and Sam Evans.

Shirley is survived by her son, Dale (Cindy) Jones; daughter-in-law, Debbie Jones-Moline; siblings, Beulah Smithey, Tom Massey, Linda Evans and Janet (Dennis) Scott; sister-in-law, Sue Massey; six grandchildren, Melissa (Russ) Taylor, Bobby Jones, Mike Jones, Jennifer (Kyle) Collier, Theresa (Jason) Vandaveer and Amy (Ryan) George; 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, as well as a great number of nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a woman of quiet strength and gentle grace. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. Shirley will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and be loved by her.

A visitation for E. Shirley will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakwood Baptist Church, 7600 Lee's Summit Rd, Kansas City, MO 64139. A funeral will occur Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 7600 Lee's Summit Rd, Kansas City, MO 64139. A graveside will occur Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
