Called the greatest man by his children and experienced by those who knew him, Eddie set the standard for all to live by as the kindest, most patient, sweetest, loving, and generous man. He was the consummate jokester whether you just met him or had known him for years.
Born July 23, 1930 in Kansas City to Emma Pearl and Charles Sexton Higginbotham, Eddie was the youngest and last surviving of 8 children. He served in the Navy during the Korean War (1/18/51 – 10/28/54) as an aviation machinist. It is here where his love of his electric razor began as he never failed to tell the story of not wanting to wait in a long line to shave and going to the commissary and purchasing an electric razor.
Operated Higgs Truck Service and retired from Churchill Truck Lines. He was a dedicated and faithful husband to his wife Mona of 63 years. When asked the secret during their 63rd wedding anniversary celebration, Mona said it was the ability to give and take. Without missing a beat, Eddie said, “She gives the orders and I take them.”
He is survived by his wife Mona, his children Missy Kundee, John Higginbotham, Alicia Cochran, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. Internment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville MO.
Eddie will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him, but his legacy will continue in our hearts and minds until we meet again.
