

Edward J. Roos, Jr., 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 16th, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, MO, 64131, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, August 15th, at the church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or Maryknoll Fathers, P.O. Box 304, Maryknoll, NY, 10545.
Ed was born February 8, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, to Edward and Esther Roos. He grew up in Kansas City and was an Eagle Scout in the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a bricklayer for over 60 years. Ed was president of Roos Masonry until his retirement in 1994. He and his wife, Teresa were charter members of St. Thomas More Parish in Kansas City. A strong supporter of the military, Ed served as past president of both Richards-Gebaur and Whiteman Air Force Base Community Councils. He also served as Air Show Chairman at both bases. He was past Commander of American Legion Post 0488, Belton.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teresa (Houlihan); daughters, Kathy (Dino) Schimmel, Terry (Tom) Licata; grandchildren, Angie and Emily Schimmel; Lucy, Charlie and Anthony Licata; his brother, James Roos; and brother-in-law, John F. Houlihan, Jr.
