He married Mary Theus in July of 1963. To that union one son was born. Ed accepted Christ at an early age and united with the St. Mary Baptist church in Ringgold, Louisiana.
Ed moved to Kansas City and united with the Sunlight Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and sung in the Male Chorus. He was a faithful member until his health declined.
Ed started his employment journey with S. S. Kresege on 12th and Main Street and was later employed with Morgan Foundry and Lake City Ammunition. He worked for several construction companies. He completed his employment with J.E Dunn in 2004. He was a member of Local Union 264 until his death.
Preceded him in death; parents, Robert and Ollie Theus; brothers, Joe Nathan and Joe Louis Theus; sisters, Annie Mae Weathers, Lula Stevenson, Betty Washington and Adline Hamilton.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a hard worker and strived to assure that everyone he had a connection to, from the grandkids to the great-grandkids and even the local girls scouts were taken care of.
Ed worked hard to make sure that everyone lived well and was protected. He always put others first, and was a very compassionate man. He never left a room without putting a smile on someone's face and treating them with the grace and godliness that they deserved. He made everyone feel like no matter where you were at any point in your day, week, year, at your lowest point, that everyone was eventually going to be ok. Even at his harshest, all you could possibly feel was love. Ed's free hearted spirit has touched all of us.
Ed was a dutiful husband, leaving behind his wife Mary whom he always treated as a queen. She will miss her devout companion and soulmate of 60 years.
