

Laura ‘Elaine’ Rhoads, 87, of Lee’s Summit, MO went to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 2, 2025, at her home. Elaine was born in Pueblo, Colorado on February 10, 1938, to Uel and Daisy (Kennedy) Fisher. She was a graduate of Northeast High School, Kansas City, MO and later graduated from Kansas University with her teaching degree. She and Al married on August 21, 1960 and later welcomed two daughters, Pamela and Rhonda. Elaine taught Junior High and High School Math and Accounting at Palmer Junior High, Independence Christian School, and Providence Christian Academy. After retiring from teaching, she worked for many years as the Office Manager for Austin Farms Sodding. She was a devoted Christian and member of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church and she loved attending Sunday School with the Joy Class.
Elaine enjoyed attending her grandson’s sporting events and granddaughter’s theater performances. She loved to travel with her entire family especially returning again and again to the Teton Mountains in Wyoming. Elaine also enjoyed taking students on trips all around the country.
Elaine was a beloved Mother, Mema, Aunt, Cousin, Teacher and Friend to so many. She touched numerous lives throughout her teaching and office careers and through her faith and witness in Christ. She will be deeply missed.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Uel and Daisy Fisher, her brother, Guy Eugene Fisher, her husband Albert F. Rhoads, her daughter, Pamela Julian, and her grandson, Jason Julian. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Bergeson and her husband Chad, and grandchildren Christopher Morris, Amanda Morris, and Jeff Julian all of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Visitation and Funeral service will be held at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church, 15200 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055. The Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, March 7, 2025 and the Funeral will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 8, 2025. Graveside service will be held immediately following the Funeral at DW Newcomer’s 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Alzheimer’s Association or Ascend Hospice Care Lee’s Summit, MO.
