Elaine Pesek Tomes

Elaine Marie Tomes, 83, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2010, at North Kansas City Hospital. The only child born to Frank and Mildred Pesek in Loma, NE, Elaine became Mrs. Leo Tomes on February 5, 1948. Together they raised four children starting in Lincoln, NE and moving to Gladstone, MO, in 1958. When her children were older, Elaine joined the faculty of St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School where she taught 1st Grade for 17 years. Her love for her students was evident in the passion she had for teaching them and celebrating their successes later in life.

Elaine was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church since 1958. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council #3414 and VFW Post #5609. Elaine did not know a stranger. Her greatest joy was time spent in conversation with family and friends.

Elaine was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister-in-law and aunt who will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Leo. She is survived by her children, Tami Tomes, Mark (Pam) Tomes, Reynold (Cynthia) Tomes, and Barb (Mark) Schulte; and seven grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Schaff, Kendall Tomes, Emma Tomes, Conner Anderson, Anne Tomes, Abby Tomes and Sam Tomes.

Visitation - Friday, November 26, 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM (Rosary @ 6:30 PM); St. Charles Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Gladstone, MO.

Funeral Mass - Saturday, November 27, 9:00 AM; St. Charles Church.
