Elda Rose Allen

Elda was born on February 16, 1921 to Wilhelm and Rose Poese in Knob Noster, Missouri according to her birth certificate. Her parents celebrated her birth on February 15 as they stated this was when she truly was born. She married Cecil Allen in 1939 and went on to have three children, Wayne, Keith, and Carol.

After moving to Independence, Cecil and Elda built a successful business of building, maintaining, and renting properties around Independence, Missouri. After Cecil’s death, Elda continued the business until deciding to retire in her 90s.

A great-granddaughter said it best. “I grew up listening to my great grandmothers travel stories and playing with the souvenirs that lined her home. She had visited over 50 countries in her 103 years of life and could still remember the craziest details from her trips.”

Elda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil, and her only daughter, Carol. She is survived by her sons Wayne Allen and Keith and (Treva) Allen. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Sherri and (Chris) Leible, Lucinda Allen, Lisa Valency, Darla and (Mike) DeBacker, Kim and (Ben) Bailey, Chris Allen, Brad and (Janey) Allen, Rachel and (Steve) Lunceford, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way. Her memory and legacy will be carried directly for decades into the future by those who have been blessed with knowing her.

Services will be held at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, MO, on Friday, March 22, 2024. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM, with the funeral beginning at 10:00 AM, and the burial to follow immediately after the service.
