Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 29 at Mt. Moriah and Freeman.
Eleanor was born in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of O.W. and Mary (Shaw) Thrasher. Eleanor worked for Dr. Sam Hoeper Sr. for 44 years, as his nurse and assistant. She was preceded in death by her beloved twin sister, Mary Lou Davis; her husband Tennys Alkire; her parents; and sisters Dorothy, Ruth and Carol; and her especially beloved nephew Mark Warren Jr. She is survived by her sisters Dolores Hensley and Theresa Dennison (Jim), and brothers, Junior (Betty), Joe (Dorothy), Pat (Darlinda) and 13 nieces and nephews.
Nanny’s compassion was her most adoring quality. She was a wonderful, caring nurse and a beautiful human being. Nanny lived her life helping everyone, she helped strangers as well as family and friends. Nanny loved spending time at “The Boat” pursuing and maintaining her seven star card. Nanny “never met a casino she didn’t like.” Nanny was our Guardian Angel. She was the light of our lives, we love her and will miss her terribly.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt shout out to her caregivers following her twin sister’s death. Mark and Charlotte Warren had the privilege of having Nanny in their home and when her needs escalated, her (retired) brother Joe and wife Dorothy Thrasher were her caregivers until she entered Kansas City Hospice House.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
