Eleanor was born in Bell City, Missouri on February 25, 1927. She was named Daisy Lee by her parents. Due to the hardships of the Great Depression and her mother’s death from tuberculosis, Daisy’s father made the tough decision to place her and her siblings up for adoption. He put an ad in the local newspaper saying that he had three children needing to be placed in loving homes. On May 29, 1931, Daisy, age 4, was adopted by O.E. (Doc) and Gaynell Brown. Doc called her “My little bargain from the Kansas City Star”. The Browns changed Daisy’s first name to Eleanor, after Gaynell’s sister.
Eleanor was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Central High School in 1944. She attended KU and Lindenwood College. Because of the war, Eleanor left school to work for the Alcoa Aluminum Co. as a secretary.
Eleanor married Lawrence (Larry) Gribble on April 11, 1950. They had two children, Craig born in 1953 and Laurie in 1960.

Eleanor stayed in their Overland Park home until December 2022. She then moved to Garden Villas of Lenexa assisted living.
Eleanor and Larry were blessed with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
