Eleanor L. Compton Hendricks

Eleanor L. Hendricks, 78, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Contributions may be made at Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64145. Eleanor was born to Elwood Compton and Edith F. Graves on May 10, 1932 in Butler, Missouri. She was raised by her grandparents Edward and Stella Graves. Eleanor was employed at the Forum Cafeteria where she met her husband, Paul, and her lifelong friends Barbara and T.J. Ballard. Eleanor was preceded in death by her father Elwood Compton, mother Edith F. and step-father Willie Welcome, husband Paul R. Hendricks in 2005, and granddaughter Stefanie Andrews. She is survived by son Wayne Hendricks of the home, daughter Roxana Andrews (Gerry), son Dan Hendricks (Stacey), and grandchildren Ashley Andrews, Taylor Andrews, Alexis Andrews, Paul R. Hendricks II, and Aimee L. Hendricks. Eleanor is also survived by her cousin Edith “Snookie” Martin (Ray) who was like a sister, friends and neighbors Lonnie and Mary Baker.
