

Passed away 16 October, 2017, Albuquerque, NM. She will be buried at 2:30pm, November 11, 2017, at Mount Moriah South Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband William Francis Elliott, 2 January 1991, and two of her three daughters, Lucille Marie Elliott Howell 26 September 2010 and Karla Kay Elliott Lee, 12 April 2009.
Eleanor Lucile Schumacher as born August 25, 1920, Marysville, Marshall County, Kansas. When she was three months old, her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and later to Claycomo, Missouri, to a home built by Frank Harold Schumacher, her father. She went swimming in the neighboring creek every summer. She attended and also graduated from Munger Grade School. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, East High School District for Eleanor’s Freshman year. Eleanor became a member of Job’s Daughter. Another move was made to the Paseo High School for Eleanor’s sophomore through senior years and graduation. She won first prize wearing a self-tailored suit in Paseo’s annual spring fashion show, which was viewed by the 2,400-member student body and their parents.
As a teenager, Eleanor found time to sew, crochet, knit, play tennis and work at Kresge’s. She met Bill at Junior College. After graduation, Eleanor worked one year at Sears as a stenographer, then four years for Trans World Airlines, two of those years as a clerk steno and two years as a buyer of small machinery.
Eleanor married William Francis Elliott, January 30, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. Bill was born 10 November, 1920, Beresford, South Dakota. Bill is the son of William Robert Elliott and Elva May Stout. In June 1942, Bill became a pilot of the Army Air Corps.
Eleanor joined Bill in Denver and worked temporary jobs as a Buyer-Secretary for the Lowry Air Force Base Exchange, Wholesale Liquor Secretary, and Radio Station Clerk. When Bill was transferred to Panama, Eleanor worked one year in Civil Service. She was elected to the Eastern Star. There was a transfer back to Denver after Marjorie was nine months old. Lucille was three months of age when a transfer moved the family to Washington, D.C. They resided in Falls Church, Virginia. One year later, a transfer sent them to Bermuda. Eleanor taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class for two years. After four years in Bermuda, their next tour was in Wichita, Kansas, where William Edward and Karla Kay were born.
Bill was assigned an isolated tour to Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands when Karla was five months old. Eleanor and the four children moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to spend that year near family members. After Bill’s return, he was assigned to Whiteman Air Force Base and the family lived there until 1961, when they moved to Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue, Nebraska. Eleanor was a Girl Scout Leader for fifth and sixth grade girls. Next came a transfer to Toul, France, for two years, and a one-year transfer to Wiesbaden, Germany. When the family returned to the United States and Offutt Air Force Base, Eleanor worked temporary jobs, taking time off to apply for Civil Service. This was obtained the same month the family moved into their home at 807 LeMay Drive, Bellevue, Nebraska. The family are members of the St. James United Methodist Church, Bellevue, Nebraska.
They have 8 grandchildren: Bobby Woodall, Joanna K Woodall Perkins, Eric Howell, Lisa Howell Acree, Melissa Elliott Almuttar, W. Benjamin Elliott, Kara and Rachael Lee, Stephanie Greiner Hynes and Nick Greiner. They have 9 great grandchildren: Stephanie Woodall Nieto, Dustin Woodall, Sundee R. Perkins, Colton Perkins, Easton Acree, Lucy Acree, Elizabeth Almuttar, Sophia and Grace Elliott and, Emmalynn and Landry Greiner. They have 4 great- great- grandchildren: Kaden, Dax, and Ryann Nieto; and Max Woodall.
Eleanor retired at the age of 62 and enjoyed eight very happy years with Bill. Bill retired as Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force with over 30 years of service. Bill passed away January 2, 1991. Eleanor continued living in the home until she moved to New Mexico with her daughter, Karla Kay and Karla’s family. She resided with Karla in Rio Rancho for several years, then moved into Albuquerque. She stayed with Marjorie, moved to an Assisted Living Apartment and her last home was at Ladera Nursing and Care Center. She passed away October 16, 2017.
