

Elizabeth Anna Bell, 98, was born December 27, 1912 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the oldest daughter of four born to James and Willetta (Mathena) Anderson, Sr. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death. Elizabeth was educated in the public school system of Kansas City, Missouri and attended Kansas State University. She was united in marriage to Rev. William Brockman Bell, Sr. on June 23rd, 1934, who preceded her in death. To this union were born seven children, three of whom preceded her in death, Deborah Ann Bell, William Brockman Bell, Jr. and Wanda Marie Boushier. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church for many years where she was a member of the Celestial Choir, the Booster Club and the Nannie Burrough Circle. She was recently recognized as one of the oldest members of the church. Her faith and trust in God sustained her thru the years. She enjoyed watching her soap operas and working in her Word Find puzzle book. You could always find her, with her apron on, in the kitchen cooking. Her friends affectionately called her “Lib.” She departed this life December 24th, 2011 peacefully and quietly, surrounded by her family. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Tarwiyah Khalifah (Abdul), Claudia L. Harris, and Linda Joyce Bell, of the city, and Diana Elaine Miller (Jimmy), of Walls, Mississippi; her granddaughter Arlene Charisse Ateman (Ronald), of Sachse, Texas whom she raised as her own; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 30th, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South.
