Elizabeth Jane Bresler passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, November 3, 2012. May she rest in peace with our Lord in Heaven and rejoice at being reunited with her loving husband. Jane was a remarkable, unforgettable woman, and our hearts are broken that she will no longer be with us. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7 from 5 – 7 PM at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. The Rosary will be said at 7 PM by family friend, Dr. T. Bryan Bownik. Jane’s life will be honored with a Holy Mass on Thursday, November 8 at 10 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Private family entombment. Jane was preceded in death one year ago by her beloved husband of sixty years, Donald B. Bresler. Jane and Don grew up, married, and raised their only daughter in St. Louis, Missouri, with Don’s career taking them temporarily to San Diego and Dallas. She was 83 very young years, born on June 16, 1929. They moved to Kansas City twenty years ago after their retirement so they could watch their only grandson, Bryan, grow up. Devoted grandparents, they never missed a school activity, baseball or football game. Elizabeth Jane was also preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Sr. and Agnes Whitelaw and her sister, Mary Margaret Whitelaw. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Gregg Saling, of Loch Lloyd, Missouri, and beloved grandson, Bryan A. Saling, of Houston, Texas. Her two unbelievable brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas, Jr. and Trina Whitelaw of O’Fallon, Missouri and James and Janet Whitelaw of O’Fallon, Missouri survive. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Annette Bresler of Ft. Myers, Florida and sister-in-law Marie Bresler of Ft. Myers, Florida also survive her. Jane had many very special nieces and nephews: Teri, Chrissy, Liz, Kate, Joanne, Tom, John, Paula, Margaret, Amy, Tracy, Judith, and Debbie, all surviving her. Jane was grateful to have many spectacular friends and neighbors who always were there for her, rain or shine. Dear friend, Francine Harvatin, was wonderful support to Jane over the last couple of years and her kindness will never be forgotten. When her husband Don was very ill and hospice care was necessary, Jane chose to care for him in their home for almost a year before his death. She never once complained and embraced the chance to give back to her husband the love and support he had given her over the years. As a devoted mother, Jane stayed at home with her daughter Janice until she went away to college, although she was a very successful legal secretary and graduated from a famous St. Louis secretarial school, Miss Hickey’s in 1948. Jane was an office manager and legal secretary for the United States District Court in St. Louis for the last twenty years of her career. Janice believes that her mother had the best combination of character and attributes to make her the best mother and grandmother in the entire world. Jane’s only grandchild, Bryan, was the joy of her life; he will agree that he was truly blessed to have had such a wise and unconditionally loving grandmother. In Jane’s memory, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, who helped her family above and beyond in our time of greatest need. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
