Her family announces with sorrow the death of Elizabeth Bunce on June 16, 2015, at her home in Kansas City, Mo. She was 67 and recently retired from American Century Investments. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City. Betsy was born and grew up in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of Frank and Priscilla Zumbro. She graduated from Alexis I. duPont High School, where she was editor of the newspaper and attended the University of Delaware. She was an adventurer all her life, hiking through Switzerland and Austria, traveling widely. She was an expert skeet shooter, passionate gardener, a reader of murder mysteries, and an authority on World War II. Her fortunate pets, Zack, Jake and Jorge, enriched her life. But most of all, Betsy was a loving and beloved daughter, wife, sister, and aunt. She had a gift for friendships new and old. In her 12 years in Kansas City, she nurtured a wide circle of friends. Betsy's husband, George P. Bunce, died in 2003. She is survived by her sister, Katharine Crosson, of Kansas City, nieces, Mary Sears Crosson and Sarah Bennett Crosson of Kansas City, and nephew, Theodore Edward Crosson of Carlsbad, Calif. Betsy is also survived by her 18-month old great niece, Anne Leonie Nicol- Crosson who delighted her. Betsy's death leaves us saddened, but grateful for her life. The family suggests that memorial contributions go to Harvesters, 3801 Topping Ave., Kansas City, MO 64129. Betsy had volunteered there and believed strongly in their mission.
