

Elizabeth A Burns, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on September 21, 1929, Elizabeth lived a full and remarkable life, leaving a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and love.
Elizabeth was born to parents Clarence and Lois Stites in Adrian, MI, and grew up alongside brother Glenn and sisters Madelyn, Zelma, Elda, Julia, Vivian, Geraldine, and Lois. She married Edward L. Burns in 1951, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and strong faith. As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Elizabeth dedicated herself to creating a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and support.
Elizabeth’s career began as a flight attendant for TWA before spending the majority of her life devoted to her family. In her later years, she enjoyed writing poetry, volunteering with the church and spending time with friends and loved ones.
Her greatest joy in life came from her family. Elizabeth’s wisdom and humor were constant sources of comfort, and her ability to listen made her a cherished confidant. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel valued and loved.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Kevin Burns, of Jacksonville Beach, FL; her five grandchildren, Megan Burns, Allison Burns, Nick Burns, Christopher Holland, and Sean Michael Holland, as well as countless friends and extended family members who were blessed to have known her. She is reunited in eternal peace with Edward, and her children that predeceased her, Susan, Michelle Holland and Gerard.
A requiem Mass for Elizabeth will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 10:00am at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road in Kansas City, MO. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 9:30am Wednesday at McGilley State Line Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Elizabeth’s memory to The American Heart Association.
Elizabeth’s life was a testament to grace, resilience, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Elizabeth. Your legacy lives on in the lives you touched.
