Betty Ann was born and raised in Atchison, Kansas. She graduated from Benedictine College (formerly Mount St. Scholastica) with a degree in biology. In 1950, she married U.S. Navy Lieutenant Leo Francis O’Brien, a JAG attorney who died too early, in 1963.
She was preceded in death by parents William and Cecelia Jochems, brother Timothy Jochems and sister Cecelia (“Cee”) Timberlake.
She is survived by her sister Mary Ellen Price, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, son Thomas M. (Nancy) O’Brien, Prairie Village, KS, four grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, KCMO.
Burial will be at Fort Leavenworth national cemetery at a later date.
