A private service will be held at McGilley Memorial Chapel - Midtown followed by a private burial at Forest Hill Cemetery on Thursday, April 30th, 2020. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
Ellen was born in Germantown, Missouri on September 19th, 1939 to parents Theodore “Ted” and Clara (Rotert) Greufe. She grew up on a family farm in Germantown and was the youngest of eight children. She attended and graduated from Montrose R-14 High School.Ellen married the love of her life, Joe Edward Burrough in Kansas City, Missouri on October 14th, 1958. Joe and Ellen lived in Kansas City where they raised their three sons; Charlie, Dale, and Keith. Ellen loved being a stay-at-home mother and was a devotedcaregiver for her boys. Ellen remained very active up until she was diagnosed was pancreatic cancer. She enjoyed gardening, being outside, cooking (especially her grandsons’ favorites, pea salad and strawberry rhubarb pie), and any opportunity to sit aroundthe table enjoying a meal with her family. Ellen was a faithful member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore “Ted” and Clara Greufe, her siblings Benita (Joseph) Grinzinger, Alice (Glen Lee) Westhusing, Boniface (June) Greufe, Ludger “Joe” (Rita) Greufe, Leland Greufe, Howard Greufe, brother-in-law Erwin Vogel,her husband Joe Burrough, and her son Charles “Charlie” Burrough.
She is survived by her sister Beatrice Vogel, her sister-in-law Evelyn Greufe, her sons Dale Burrough, Keith (Tracy) Burrough, her grandsons Joshua (Hillary) Burrough, Jarred (Lauren) Burrough, and Jacob Burrough, her great grandchildren Skylar and Sutton,and many beloved nieces and nephews.
