Eloise McLaren Swalwell, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at her beloved church of over 40 years, Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church, 7406 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri 64114. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the church. Eloise was born May 13, 1928 in Chanute, Kansas to Alvin and Eva McLaren. She graduated from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas with a Bachelors Degree in Business. It was at Baker University that she met her future husband, Donald (Don) Swalwell, and they were married in 1951. She lived most of her life in Kansas City, other than a short stay in Ft. Worth, Texas (which she enjoyed), and two long years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (which she did not). Eloise was a people person, who enjoyed spending time with her friends, young or old, newly-made or life-long, especially over a glass of wine. She was a strong woman, with strong opinions, which she freely shared and for which she was loved. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, and sister Dorothy Pease. Survivors include son Brad Swalwell of Hockessin, Delaware, Brad’s wife Peggy and their daughter Leigh, son Greg Swalwell of Dallas, Texas and his partner Terry Connor, and sister Marge Allen of Garland, Texas. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and dear friends who were part of her “Kansas City family.” Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
