She was born July 14, 1929, in El Dorado, KS, to John Andrew and Edna Marie (Hunzicker) Rarick. She was adopted by John Lyndon and Sadie Elizabeth (White) Baldwin at age 3. She grew up in Leavenworth, KS and graduated with her LPN from St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS. She was a nurse at St. John's Hospital, then spent the majority of her life as a homemaker caring for her family. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting, painting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of Church of the Redeemer Episcopal Church in Kansas City, MO. She belonged to and held offices in Missouri Homemaker's Extension, Earnest Shepherd Memorial Youth Center, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She volunteered with the Kansas City Suicide Awareness and Prevention.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. She married her first husband, Wallace Edmond Cobb, on May 5th, 1951. They were married 36 years until his death on March 23, 1987. She was married to Robert Lee Selvy on November 4th, 1989 until his death on November 15th, 2006. She married Arthur Westhorpe Young on May 17th in 2008. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2014.
Ena was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, son, James W. Cobb, stepson Michael Selvy, seven brothers, Lawrence Baldwin, John P. Rarick, Andrew Rarick, Benjamin Rarick, Ralph Newman, Howard Rarick, and Ernest Rarick and five sisters, Anna Mae Wood, Mary Smith, Anna Rarick, Helen Law and Eleanor Robinson.
She is survived by daughter Catherine (James) Gregory, three stepdaughters, Roberta (Len) Selvy Gamble, Karen (Matt) Dupont, Debbie (John) Perak, three stepsons, Greg (Colleen) Young, Mike (Cindy) Young, Dan (Jennifer) Young, granddaughters Krista (Drew) Smith, Kendra (Ben) Hart, grandson Chris (Julia) Williams great-grandsons Jace Smith, Evan Hart; great-granddaughters Daylyn Smith, Tayler Williams brother Robert Williams and sisters Linda Atkins, Cora Adams, and Daisy Hines, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Ena will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at First Baptist Church of Northern Heights, 6311 NW Waukomis Dr, Kansas City, MO 64151. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MU Extension.
