Ernest Grant “Gary” Hamilton, Jr., 77, of Belton, Missouri, passed away June 13, 2012. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Gary was born January 29, 1935 in Carthage, Missouri, son of Ernest, Sr. and Esther (Hargis) Hamilton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Gary retired from Zurich Insurance in 2000, where he was an insurance underwriter. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball. He played on the Chicago Cubs Farm Team. He married Carol Steffens on January 29, 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by his wife Carol of the home; sons Chris Hamilton, Gary Hamilton, and Matt Steffens and wife Melinda, all of Belton, Missouri; brother Dan Hamilton and wife Barbara of Midlothian, Illinois; sister June Hamilton of Chandler, Arizona; several nieces, nephews and beloved dog Maggie.
