She was born in Jetmore, Kansas. She attended Sterling College, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. in Natural Sciences. In 1958, she received her certificate in Medical Technology from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Eva worked in a variety of chemistry and research positions in hospitals and research institutions in the Kansas City area, retiring in 1999 from Clinical Reference laboratory as a Certifying Scientist.
She loved sports cars, musical instruments, animals and sports, especially the Chiefs, Royals and KU basketball. She was a member of the John Knox Presbyterian Kirk.
Eva was preceded in death by her long-time companion, Brenda K. Brown, and by her parents, Vernon Ward Koontz and Lillian Bell Koontz, and siblings Jean Barrows, Betty Burgert, Bonnie Patchen Steele, Ella Mae Mann, Wayne Koontz, Vernon Ward Koontz, and Denzel Koontz.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 8th at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Meet at 12:50pm outside the funeral home to caravan to the gravesite.
